ChatGPT

There are two ways in. If a plugin is in the app directory, open Apps, search for its name, connect, and sign in. Then type @ and pick it. Right now that's Continuity. The other nine are in review, so use developer mode for them until they're listed.

Developer mode, until a plugin is in the directory

This is an early-access route. It is for trying a plugin before ChatGPT lists it. Developer mode is meant for people who are comfortable connecting a server they chose. Follow OpenAI's developer mode guide.

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode. OpenAI lists this for Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, and Education.
  2. Go to ChatGPT Plugins.
  3. Select the plus button and create a developer-mode app. The plus button only does that after Developer mode is on. If the label says Add custom MCP server, that's the same step.
  4. Paste the plugin's server URL, including /mcp. Choose sign-in (OAuth). Leave the client id empty so ChatGPT can register itself. Confirm the risk warning if ChatGPT shows one, then create it.
  5. In a chat, open the plus menu and turn that app on.

On Business, Enterprise, and Edu, a workspace admin may have to allow developer mode first, under Workspace settings, then Permissions and roles. Regular ChatGPT users won't see these plugins in the directory until review finishes.
