Control by Ouroboros: User Manual

Version 12.3.5 · Early release · Windows 10/11

Control lets your AI assistant click, type and get things done on your Windows PC instead of just telling you what to do. It asks before it takes over, and you can take the wheel back at any time.

1. Install

  1. Download Control-Setup.exe from ouroborosapps.com/control. Version 12.3.5, 87,453,600 bytes.
  2. Optional: check the file. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\Control-Setup.exe. It should match 4047587f5ed73c074d1dea4d9ddcae445a365ba7b1eac15d883c555c6cdc150d.
  3. Double-click Control-Setup.exe and follow the installer.

That's all. You don't need Python, and you don't need to edit any config files. Control installs for your Windows user and adds shortcuts on your Desktop, in the Start menu and in Startup, so it opens when you sign in. The Control icon then shows up in the system tray.

2. First run

When you open Control for the first time, a short setup wizard walks you through three steps:

  1. Trial. Click Start 7-day trial to use Control on this PC for seven days.
  2. License. If you already bought Control, click I have a license and paste your license key (it starts with OBR1). Control checks the key right on your PC.
  3. Apps. Control connects itself to Claude Desktop and Cursor. It saves a backup of each app's settings file first and adds only its own entry. Your other plugins stay as they are.

You can also buy from the wizard: $7.50/mo or $75/yr.

3. Connecting your AI

The wizard does this for you. When it's done, fully close Claude Desktop or Cursor and open it again. Control then appears in the app's tools list as control-by-ouroboros.

4. Using Control

  1. Make sure the Control icon is in your system tray.
  2. Ask your AI to do something on your PC, for example: "Open Notepad and type a shopping list for tacos."
  3. Control asks for your OK before your AI takes over. Approve it and watch the screen while it works.

Sessions have no time limit. If you don't want to approve every time, you can pre-approve a time window, and Control won't ask again during that window.

Built-in safety: Control blocks checkout, payment, card and password screens, and that block can't be turned off. Deletes need your confirmation. It's best-effort, because it reads page labels and addresses rather than pixels, so always watch what your AI does. Every action is logged on your PC so you can review it.

5. Taking control back

Grab the mouse. As soon as you move it, control comes back to you. To continue the task, ask your AI to pick up where it left off. It will ask for your OK again.

6. Trial and license

Monthly$7.50 per month, per PC
Yearly$75 per year, per PC (2 months free)
Teams of 10+ PCs15% off ($6.38/mo or $63.75/yr per PC)

No tax is added. The price you see is the price you pay. Buy at ouroborosapps.com/control, then paste your key in the wizard's License step. Each PC needs its own license. To change or cancel a plan, use Manage subscription.

7. Uninstall

  1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find Control by Ouroboros and choose Uninstall.

The uninstaller closes Control and removes the app folder and the Desktop, Start menu and Startup shortcuts. It also takes Control's entry out of Claude Desktop and Cursor and cleans up its backup files. Your other apps and plugins aren't touched.
